My idea of good company is when I speak and others listen. These goats understand me perfectly!

A life time experience!
(Sorry for the long narration)
I was in Karaikudi for a family vacation two weeks ago. My photographer friend Kumaragadu Panaliappan from Chennai was also nearby visiting his native home to attend their village’s temple function at Sivaganga around 30KM away from Karaikudi. He offered to take me to a nearby Jallikattu event.
This was a little different type of Jallikattu. Teams brought their bulls to an open field & released them. The ferocious bulls, once released of their tight reigns, try to run whichever way they wish. Some people try to stop these bulls in fun but it is definitely a dangerous game to play and even witness. Unlike in other Jallikattu events where bulls have a definite path to run on, these bulls could come from any direction and at any moment. You can easily get hurt if the bull decides to come your way.
I went in the field expecting some good photographs. At first when I heard my name being called, I thought I imagined someone calling me due to the scorching heat, my panting as I was running quite a bit to get a shot and the hordes of people shouting around me.
But I was wrong, a person was really calling me. He came to me & told me that he & his friends are my fans and that they love my colorful photographs. They told me that they often visit my website. Infact, they showed me some of my photographs saved on their phone and I saw two of my photographs in two of their phones’ wallpapers!
Mind you, they were NOT photographers! They were very simple people staying 450KM away from Chennai who did not even speak any language I spoke. People I had never met and who had no way of knowing me apart from knowing me through my photography.
Meeting them and hearing them say that they were fans of my photographs was an experience I will never forget…
A photographer’s dream is to be recognized and acknowledged by people unrelated to the field of photography.
They felicitated me with a scarf they brought to honor the courage and strength of those who could stop their bull during the event. Receiving this honor from them was probably the best gift I could earn as a photographer.
I do not know if anyone from the group follows me or not on this page. But if you are, thank you from the bottom of my heart! I am really moved by your gesture & this scarf is & will always be one of the most cherished memory in my life.

Feb2022 Theyyam Trip
Shared the same flight with my country’s ex-Prime Minister, Shri H.D. Deve Gowda while travelling from Bangalore to Mangalore. This is the first time I have ever asked anyone for this kind of a picture.

Anna Centenary Library/Chennai
Spent a fantastic day at Anna Centenary Library/Chennai in their Photography section with lots of exclusive books. Beautiful ambience to read books. A large 8-Floor Library with free access for all. Indeed a paradise for book lovers. Thank you Kumaraguru Palaniappan for the information about this library.

Vacation time photography
Usually in a hill station there is not much to do after sundown. All day I was out for photography and am back at the hotel by the evening. For me, there is nothing better than spending quality time with photographs, clicking them during the day and watching others at night even when I am on a vacation. Luckily, Seenshot Society asked me to judge their National Contest and I am immersed in looking at fantastic photographs under a cozy blanket in a rustic timber hotel room at Kodaikanal. What a great way to spend a vacation!!

World Photography Day-2021
This is how I celebrated World Photography Day!
Printed & framed 37 of my photographs and then went around Chennai searching for those people who were featured in these frames. I gifted these framed prints to them as a part of our AvTvISO-Gift a Frame Initiative.
Their surprise & happy smiles were really exciting! Thank you Shiven & Mohan for thinking of this great initiative!

Don’t judge me… i was not drunk… not insane… not injured. Just whiling away time contemplating existential questions like what came first… the egg or the chicken!

I find television very educating. Every time somebody turns on the set, I go into the other room and read a book.~ Groucho Marx
On a photo walk at Mahabalipuram in Chennai, we discovered a small bookshop. There is no bigger distraction than a room full of books to discover and so we stopped and spent some time with them. Added 4 more great books to my library.
Handle every situation like a dog. If you can’t eat it or play with it, just pee on it and walk away!
I have realized over the years that photography is nothing but an excuse to go to very ordinary places where most people don’t.
Photographers often go to these places not because they have a reason to go, but because they have a hope…
a hope to find something extraordinary perhaps… an extraordinary moment, extraordinary people or another memorable experience!
My cub and I took a short nap after walking around the various animal enclosures at the Chennai Zoo.
Pssst... My son thinks I am the Lion King and he is my Simba ... I didn’t object to playing along... after all, it’s only a few years that a kid imagines such nice things about parents...
